MS SB2728

Authorizes the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services to enter into statewide master agreements for computer, telecommunications, and cloud computing equipment or services available for shared use by state agencies, institutes of higher learning, and governing authorities.

Allows the authority to contract for acquisition of computer or telecommunications equipment or services that have been previously acquired by other entities, whether located within or outside Mississippi, if determined to be in the state's best interest.

Exempts acquisitions made under the new master agreement authority from standard advertising and competitive bidding requirements outlined in Section 25-53-1 et seq.

Expands cloud computing authority by specifically authorizing the consideration and procurement of cloud computing technologies alongside traditional computer and telecommunications equipment.

Effective date: July 1, 2023.
