Amends Section 37-23-179 of the Mississippi Code to require all local school districts to establish gifted education programs for academically gifted students in Grades 6 through 12, subject to Board of Education approval.

Changes the existing language from "may have" to "shall have" programs for academically gifted students in Grades 6-12, making such programs mandatory rather than optional.

Programs must meet minimum criteria and guidelines established by the State Board of Education, which may use model programs developed by the board or approve district-developed programs.

Maintains existing requirements for intellectually, creatively, and artistically gifted student programs in Grades 2-12, which remain optional for local districts.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
