Beginning January 1, 2024, owners of private carriers of passengers or motorcycles may choose license tags with a black background and white pinstripe border, with "Mississippi" at the top and county name at the bottom.

Beginning January 1, 2024, owners of property carriers with gross vehicle weight not exceeding 10,000 pounds may choose the same black background license tag design with white pinstripe border.

An additional fee of $38.25 is charged for the black license tags, with $2.00 remitted to the Department of Revenue License Tag Acquisition Fund and the remaining $36.25 deposited to the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund.

The black tag option follows all other guidelines and requirements for standard license tags in terms of display, decals, and registration procedures.
