Commends Thomas Edward (Tom) King, Jr. upon his retirement as Southern District Transportation Commissioner effective December 31, 2023, after serving since 2012 and currently in his third term as Chair of the Mississippi Transportation Commission

Recognizes King's nearly 20 years as a state lawmaker, serving in the House of Representatives beginning in 1993 and in the Senate from 2000 representing Forrest, Lamar, and Perry Counties

Highlights key legislation King authored, including a $300 million bond bill for highways and bridges, the John Paul Frerer Bicycle Act for cyclist safety, and the 2005 bill creating the Mississippi Wireless Communications Commission

Acknowledges King's military service as a Vietnam War veteran in the Air Force and numerous awards including 2011 Mississippi Municipal League Legislator of the Year and 2010 Hattiesburg's Veteran of the Year

Directs the resolution be presented to Commissioner King and forwarded to the Mississippi Department of Transportation
