Extends legislative condolences to the family of Jim Carmody, renowned defensive football coach who passed away on January 5, 2023, at age 89.

Recognizes Carmody's significant contributions to Mississippi football as defensive coordinator and head coach at Southern Miss, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State, and as an assistant coach in the NFL.

Honors Carmody's most notable achievement: leading Southern Miss to a 38-29 victory over Alabama in 1982, ending Bear Bryant's 59-game home winning streak.

Documents Carmody's other major victories including Ole Miss's 1977 win over Notre Dame, Mississippi State's 1989 victory over Southern Miss, and Ole Miss's 1992 Egg Bowl win over State.

Directs that the resolution be presented to Carmody's surviving family and forwarded to the Presidents/Chancellors of USM, Ole Miss, and MSU, as well as the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
