Mississippi Film Commission was created on January 17, 1973, and promoted to the Mississippi Film Office in 1980 as part of the Mississippi Department of Economic Development.

The Mississippi Film Office has supported production of more than 200 feature films, 29 television movies, 65 documentaries, 25 television series, and countless other productions under four directors: Walterine Odom, John Horhn, Ward Emling, and Nina Parikh.

Film production in Mississippi has generated more than $575 million in direct expenditures since the Film Office's creation, with the Motion Picture Incentive Program providing cash rebates for projects spending a minimum of $50,000 with Mississippi-based vendors and personnel.

The resolution commends the Mississippi Film Office for attracting major actors and acclaimed filmmakers to Mississippi locations, enhancing the state's economy, tourism, and global reputation.

The resolution directs that this recognition be presented to the Executive Director and staff of the Mississippi Film Office and forwarded to the Division of Tourism.
