Recognizes Dr. Robert W. Pearigen, the 13th President of Millsaps College, for his contributions to higher education and civic leadership in Mississippi upon his resignation to become president of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee

Dr. Pearigen served as Millsaps College president since 2010 and launched a strategic plan called "Across the Street and Around the Globe: Partnerships and Influence at Millsaps College"

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of the South with master's and doctoral degrees in political science from Duke University, specializing in constitutional law and political theory

Unlike most college presidents, Dr. Pearigen continued teaching courses in constitutional law, civil rights and liberties, jurisprudence, and political theory throughout his administrative career

The resolution directs that a copy be presented to Dr. Pearigen and his family and forwarded to the Millsaps College Board of Trustees
