Extends recognition and commendation from the Mississippi Senate to 16-year-old Corion Evans of Moss Point for rescuing four people from a car that plunged into the Pascagoula River on July 3, 2022 at 2:30 a.m.

Evans dove into alligator-infested waters and rescued three teenage girls one at a time, then saved the life of responding police officer Garry Mercer who was being dragged underwater by a panicked victim.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley and Mayor Billy Knight commended Evans for his bravery, selflessness, and courage in risking his own safety to help others.

Resolution directs that copies be presented to Corion Evans and his family, forwarded to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Moss Point, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
