Department of Defense spending in Mississippi totaled $5.6 billion and represented 4.3 percent of the state's GDP in federal fiscal year 2021, supporting 36,538 Active Duty, Civilian, Reserve and National Guard personnel across multiple installations.

Recognizes major military installations including Keesler Air Force Base, Columbus Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Meridian, Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, and NASA John C. Stennis Space Center for their contributions to national security and training missions.

Commends and supports military personnel and installations throughout Mississippi and reinforces the state's commitment to Department of Defense missions as key to national security.

Encourages continued cooperation between the Mississippi Defense Communities Development Council and Department of Defense communities to retain, expand and attract defense missions and installations.

Directs transmission of the resolution to the Adjutant General of Mississippi, the Governor's Office of Military Affairs, and the Mississippi Defense Communities Council.
