Deletes the provision allowing totally disabled veterans, their unremarried surviving spouses, and unremarried surviving spouses of armed forces members killed or died on active duty to apply for homestead exemption within 30 calendar days of closing (but not later than December 31 of purchase year)

Removes language from Mississippi Code Section 27-33-31(1)(b) that permitted these specific groups to file homestead exemption applications outside the standard April 1 deadline

Requires these homeowners to comply with the standard April 1 application deadline for homestead exemptions, with limited exceptions only for Governor-declared courthouse damage

Effective July 1, 2024
