Adds mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine (the active alkaloids in kratom) to Schedule III of Mississippi's Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

Classifies kratom as a controlled substance subject to the same regulatory restrictions as other Schedule III drugs, including depressants and anabolic steroids.

Exempts any Schedule III substances listed as exempt in federal regulations (21 CFR Sections 1308.22, 1308.24, 1308.26, 1308.32, or 1308.34), except butalbital.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
