Authorizes boards of trustees of community and junior colleges to contract with municipalities for fire protection services, with authority previously limited to state institutions of higher learning.

Allows community and junior college boards to enter into interlocal agreements with county governing authorities to provide fire protection, law enforcement, and emergency medical transportation services to the main campus.

Permits boards of trustees to assess students a fee not to exceed $5.00 per semester to offset costs of first responder services, with revenues allocated to the local governing authority providing the services.

Allows the $5.00 student fee authorization to expire on July 1, 2027.

Effective date: July 1, 2024.
