HB 1206 Summary

• Extends the open season for hunting opossums, raccoons, and bobcats with dogs and guns from ending February 28 to March 15 of the following year.

• Extends the general fur-bearing animals open season to end March 15 instead of March 1 of the following year.

• Clarifies that hunters must wear 500 square inches of solid unbroken fluorescent orange or pink during any firearm season on deer, regardless of weapon type (firearm, bow and arrow, or other).

• Exempts hunters from the fluorescent orange/pink requirement when hunting from an elevated deer stand that is 12 feet or more above ground or when hunting in a fully enclosed blind.

• Violations of the hunter visibility requirements remain classified as Class III violations under Section 49-7-101.
