House Bill 1266 - Living Donor Protection Act

• Prohibits insurers from declining, limiting, or discriminating against life, disability, or long-term care insurance coverage based solely on a person's status as a living organ donor.

• Makes it unlawful for insurers to preclude an insured person from donating organs as a condition of continuing policy coverage.

• Requires the Department of Insurance to adopt rules and regulations to enforce the protections in the act.

• Directs the Mississippi State Department of Health to make publicly available any materials it receives from recognized living organ donation organizations related to living organ donation.

• Takes effect July 1, 2024.
