• Authorizes law enforcement officers retiring from the Department of Public Safety and beneficiaries of officers killed in the line of duty to retain one sidearm issued to them as personal property.

• Deletes the July 1, 2024 repeal date for the voluntary commercial motor vehicle inspection program, allowing the program to continue indefinitely under Commissioner of Public Safety authority.

• Authorizes the Department of Public Safety to seize property used in commission of human trafficking violations, with forfeited proceeds split 50% to the Victims of Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Fund and 50% to participating law enforcement agencies.

• Establishes the State Medical Examiner Task Force with nine members from various state agencies and professional associations to replace the State Medical Examiner Advisory Council and submit annual reports to the Legislature.

• Permits the Public Safety Commissioner to lease space in departmental headquarters to third parties with Finance and Administration approval, with lease revenues deposited into a special fund for public safety purposes.
