• Establishes comprehensive framework for appointment and administration of guardianships and conservatorships for both minors and adults, including jurisdiction, venue, and procedural requirements.

• Requires courts to consider less restrictive alternatives before appointing guardians or conservators and mandates enhanced court oversight through mandatory reporting, planning, and annual monitoring.

• Protects rights of wards/respondents including access to court records, notification of guardianship changes, communication rights, and the ability to petition for modification or termination.

• Effective July 1, 2024.
