MS HB1346

Authorizes sheriffs and their deputies to use radar speed detection devices on public roads, streets, and highways outside municipal corporate limits exclusively for enforcing speed limits in designated school zones that are marked with caution blinking lights.

Requires funds collected from violations of speed limits in school zones be used by counties for school safety, specifically to fund school resource officers, law enforcement officers assigned to schools, or safety training for school faculty and staff.

Amends Section 63-3-519 to add sheriffs and deputies as an exception to the general prohibition on radar speed detection equipment use by law enforcement other than the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
