Amends Mississippi Code Section 25-31-21 to clarify procedures for appointing replacement attorneys when a district attorney is absent, unable to perform duties, or disqualified.

Specifies that the appointment of replacement attorneys does not apply when a district attorney recuses themselves from a case or has a conflict of interest, regardless of whether the case has been presented to the grand jury.

Requires the judicial district of the assisting district attorney to bear all reasonable travel and prosecution expenses when the appointed attorney must travel beyond their normal judicial district.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
