Requires law enforcement agencies to notify the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation when an officer-involved death occurs, and mandates the Bureau investigate the circumstances of the death.

Directs the Attorney General to assess investigation results and determine whether evidence should be presented to a grand jury.

If the Attorney General determines grand jury presentation is necessary, requires appointment of a district attorney from a different county to serve as special prosecutor to present evidence and prosecute any resulting criminal charges.

Grants the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation jurisdiction to investigate all officer-involved shootings resulting in injury or death statewide, except for incidents involving Bureau members which the Attorney General must assign to another agency.

Effective date: July 1, 2024.
