Increases the number of full-time legal assistants (assistant district attorneys) authorized in the Twenty-third Circuit Court District from 5 to 8 positions, effective July 1, 2024.

Twenty-third Circuit Court District may also employ up to 2 additional full-time legal assistants if the Legislature appropriates funds or if county boards of supervisors adopt resolutions to pay for those positions.

District attorneys can employ additional legal assistants beyond authorized numbers if funding comes from office-generated funds, counties, municipalities, federal grants, private foundations, or interlocal agreements.

District attorney must report to county boards of supervisors and the Department of Finance and Administration the amount and source of supplemental salaries and benefits, with reports to be spread in county minutes.
