MS HB1651

Creates a Law Enforcement Supplemental Pay Program administered by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to provide supplemental pay to local law enforcement officers.

Provides $2,000 per year in state supplemental pay to every full-time, sworn, certified law enforcement officer employed by any municipality or county who has completed five (5) years of service as a sworn, certified law enforcement officer.

Allows five years of service credit to include any service as a sworn, certified law enforcement officer in the State of Mississippi, not limited to current employer.

Requires supplemental pay to be in addition to and not used to reduce compensation from any other funding sources.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
