Amends Section 37-3-2 of Mississippi Code to require the Legislature to appropriate funds to the State Department of Education for fiscal year 2025 specifically for the Mississippi Teacher Residency (MTR) program for the 2025-2026 school year.

The MTR program is part of the existing Teach Mississippi Institute (TMI) nontraditional teaching route for Grades 7-12 educators who meet alternative entrance requirements.

Applies to individuals with an ACT score of 21 (or SAT equivalent), a passing Praxis Core score, or a 3.0 GPA, combined with passing Praxis Subject Assessment scores.

Program includes an intensive eight-week summer component or fall/spring semester option, coursework in education and pedagogy, and a one-semester supervised internship while employed as a full-time teacher intern.

Effective July 1, 2024.
