Expands qualifications for assistant teachers in federal or state-funded early childhood education and Head Start programs to include individuals with a high school diploma/GED plus a Child Development Associate credential, Montessori certification, or equivalent certification.

Retains existing requirements allowing assistant teachers to have an associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, or equivalent field; or an associate's degree with a Child Development Associate credential, Montessori certification, or equivalent certification.

Maintains separate requirements for master teachers (must meet teacher qualifications and demonstrate effectiveness as an early childhood educator) and teachers (must have bachelor's degree in relevant field or bachelor's degree in any field with 12+ credit hours of early childhood education coursework or equivalent training).

Exempts charter schools authorized by the Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board from these requirements.

Effective July 1, 2024; delegates State Department of Education to adopt necessary rules and procedures for implementation.
