MS HB1694

Requires the state to provide 50% of the cost of health insurance coverage for eligible dependents of full-time state and school employees, in addition to existing employee coverage provisions.

Applies the 50% dependent coverage requirement to both employees initially hired before January 1, 2006 and those hired on or after that date.

Allows full-time employees to purchase their 50% share of dependent coverage through payroll deductions, with the state contributing its 50% share from agency appropriated funds.

Sunsets the amended section on July 1, 2026, requiring legislative reauthorization to continue the provision.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
