House Bill 217 Summary

• Authorizes issuance of state general obligation bonds totaling up to $825,000 for the Town of Plantersville to extend the walking track at Grant-Wuichet Park, update baseball facilities, enlarge the concession stand with additional restrooms, and repair/improve town roads and streets.

• Authorizes issuance of up to $125,000 in bonds for the Town of Plantersville to pave the community center parking area, upgrade playground equipment, and install above-ground commercial storm shelters at the community center and Grant-Wuichet Park.

• Authorizes issuance of up to $700,500 in bonds for the Town of Plantersville Fire Department to purchase a new fire truck, repair and upgrade the fire department building, and purchase 911 radios and turnout gear for firemen.

• Authorizes issuance of up to $300,000 in bonds for the Town of Plantersville Police Department to purchase a new police building, three Ford Explorer motor vehicles, and equipment including radios, computers, office furniture, handguns, rifles, and a gun safe.

• Establishes four separate special funds within the state treasury to disburse bond proceeds for the respective projects, with any remaining funds after project completion to be applied to bond debt service; all bonds must be issued by July 1, 2028.
