HB 383 Summary

• Prohibits county boards of supervisors and municipal governing authorities from enacting or enforcing ordinances that use automated recording equipment or systems to enforce automobile insurance requirements

• Requires any county or municipality currently using automated recording equipment or systems to enforce automobile insurance requirements to remove such equipment by October 1, 2024

• Defines "automated recording equipment or system" as a camera or optical device that works with traffic control signals or radar speed detection equipment to record license plate images of vehicles not in compliance with traffic laws

• Amends Section 17-25-19 of the Mississippi Code of 1972
