Amends Mississippi Code Sections 99-19-81 and 99-19-83 to exclude drug offense and nonviolent crime convictions when calculating prior convictions under habitual offender sentencing laws.

Defines "nonviolent crime" as any crime other than those prescribed under Section 97-3-2 (crimes of violence).

Applies to habitual offender provisions that currently require mandatory maximum sentences or life imprisonment based on two prior felony convictions.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
