Requires the Mississippi Board on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training to include at least two (2) hours of training related to hate crimes and crimes committed for discriminatory reasons in minimum educational standards for all law enforcement officers assigned to field or investigative duties.

Mandates at least two (2) hours of hate crimes training be included in minimum curriculum requirements for basic and advanced courses at law enforcement training schools operated by or for the state or political subdivisions.

Requires new police chiefs to complete at least two (2) hours of hate crimes training as part of their first-year forty (40) hours of executive level continuing education.

Requires law enforcement officers who did not receive two (2) hours of hate crimes training during their initial academy training to complete it during their first annual continuing education, then at least one (1) hour annually thereafter.

Effective July 1, 2024.
