• Amends Section 99-19-81 to limit habitual offender penalties to only those convicted of crimes of violence, excluding nonviolent felonies from maximum sentence requirements.

• Amends Section 99-19-83 to restrict the mandatory life sentence for three-time felons to cases where at least one conviction is a crime of violence as defined in Section 97-3-2.

• Repeals Section 41-29-147, eliminating the separate penalty structure for second or subsequent drug offenses.

• Takes effect July 1, 2024.
