• Requires court clerks to notify the Department of Public Safety when a court adjudicates a person as mentally incompetent or orders commitment to a mental health facility.

• Requires hospitals and mental health facilities to notify the Department of Public Safety when a person voluntarily commits themselves for mental health treatment.

• Authorizes the Department of Public Safety to use these notifications solely to issue, deny, suspend, or revoke concealed carry licenses for stun guns, concealed pistols, or concealed revolvers.

• Requires the Department of Public Safety to maintain an automated listing of persons subject to mental health notifications and review the listing regularly for compliance with existing concealed carry disqualifications.

• Records related to these notifications are exempt from the Mississippi Public Records Act and effective July 1, 2024.
