HB 876 Summary

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 67-1-5 to revise the definition of "qualified resort area" for purposes of local alcoholic beverage control laws by adding a new item 73 to the list of qualifying areas.

• Designates as a qualified resort area any municipality through which runs a portion of the Tanglefoot Trail and in which Mississippi Highway 32 and East Front Street intersect.

• Grants governing authorities of municipalities described in item 73 (along with certain other specified items) the power to regulate qualified resort areas by ordinance, including specifying hours of operation, minimum food revenue percentages, and designated locations for alcoholic beverage sales.

• Takes effect July 1, 2024.
