Authorizes licensed funeral directors and funeral establishment employees to request information from life insurers about a deceased person's life insurance policies by providing a death notification, written authorization from the person directing disposition, and group affiliation information if applicable.

Requires life insurance companies to respond within two business days with information about policy existence, beneficiaries, outstanding liens or loans, benefit amounts, and whether the policy was reinstated in the last 24 months.

Mandates funeral service providers to locate beneficiaries within 100 hours of receiving insurance information and provide all documents to beneficiaries, along with written notice in bold stating beneficiaries have no legal obligation to spend insurance proceeds on funeral costs or debts.

Establishes that making false information requests or failing to comply with beneficiary notification requirements constitutes unprofessional conduct subject to license suspension, revocation, reprimand, or probation.

Effective July 1, 2024.
