House Bill 927 Summary

• Suspends voting rights upon conviction of vote fraud, crimes listed in Mississippi Constitution Section 241, or crimes interpreted as disenfranchising by Attorney General opinions, but automatically restores voting rights once all sentencing requirements are satisfied.

• Requires county registrars to remove names from voter rolls upon conviction but automatically restore them to the Statewide Elections Management System, state voter roll, and county pollbooks after sentencing completion.

• Modifies voter eligibility requirements in Section 23-15-11 to reflect suspension upon conviction rather than permanent disqualification.

• Directs the Statewide Elections Management System to receive reports of voters who have satisfied sentencing requirements and automatically restore their registration status.

• Takes effect July 1, 2024.
