Commends and celebrates the life, legacy, and contributions of Jimmy Buffett, Mississippi-native legendary singer-songwriter and businessman who passed away on September 1, 2023, at age 76.

Recognizes Buffett's iconic 1977 hit "Margaritaville" and his "Gulf and Western" or "Tropical Rock" music style that celebrated Gulf of Mexico life, as well as his songs honoring Mississippi including "Pascagoula Run" and "Biloxi."

Acknowledges Buffett's business empire including the first Margaritaville restaurant (opened in Florida in 1987), the $700 million Margaritaville Casino & Resort in Biloxi, Landshark Lager, and multiple restaurant chains nationwide.

Notes Buffett's 1969 graduation from University of Southern Mississippi, his authorship of New York Times bestsellers, his 2008 ranking as No. 97 most influential person by Vanity Fair, and his 2020 induction into the Mississippi Songwriter Hall of Fame.

Directs copies of the resolution to be furnished to Buffett's family, the Mississippi Music Hall of Fame, the National Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the Capitol Press Corps.
