Commends Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Joshua Abbott and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bryan Andrew Zemek of the Mississippi Army National Guard who died in the line of duty on February 23, 2024, during a routine training exercise.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Abbott, a Fulton resident and Iraq combat veteran born February 14, 1982, served as a maintenance test pilot with the Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 151st Lakota Medical Evacuation unit and is survived by his wife Brandi, three children, and extended family.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Zemek, an Oxford resident born June 6, 1987, served as an AH-64 Delta Apache Standardization Instructor Pilot with the Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment and is survived by his wife Robyn, four children, parents, and three brothers.

Both officers received multiple military awards including Air Medal with Valor, Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, Senior Army Aviator Badges, and other decorations and state awards.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to the families of both officers, the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard, and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
