Commends and congratulates Craig Newton on his induction into Delta State University's Class of 2024 Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to baseball

Newton played catcher for Delta State from 2002-2005 and was a member of the team that won the 2004 NCAA Division II National Championship with a 12-8 victory over Grand Valley State

Earned two-time All-Gulf South Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors, and was named GSC Player of the Year in 2005

Compiled 40 career home runs, 206 runs scored, 243 hits, and 210 RBIs in 224 career games, and signed with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2005

Newton was previously inducted into the Delta State Student Hall of Fame in 2004-2005 and was a Ferris Trophy finalist as a top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi
