Commends and congratulates the 2023-2024 Laurel High School Lady Golden Tornadoes Basketball Team for winning the 2024 MHSAA Class 5A State Basketball Championship, the program's second state title in four years.

Team finished the season with a 28-3 record and defeated Canton High School Lady Tigers 40-32 in the championship game on March 1, 2024, at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

Sophomore forward Kayllis Walker earned MVP honors with 17 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks; junior guard Marissa Ulmer contributed nine points.

Team earned scholar athlete team distinction for the second consecutive year; individual honors included Kayllis Walker as Region 4-5A MVP, Zykeria Evans as Offensive Player of the Year, and Marissa Ulmer as Defensive Player of the Year.

Head Coach Sherri Cooley was named Region 4-5A Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year, with assistance from coaches Kristie McKinley and Shasta Husband.
