Commends and congratulates Harrison County Sheriff Troy J. Peterson upon his retirement after 29 years of service to Harrison County and Mississippi.

Recognizes Sheriff Peterson's educational background (associate degree in criminal justice from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and bachelor's degree from University of Southern Mississippi) and prior military service as an Army infantryman stationed in Hawaii from 1989-1992.

Highlights his law enforcement career including 29 years with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, service as a narcotics investigator for 10 years with the DEA and HIDTA, and promotion to Captain in 2008 before becoming Sheriff in 2016.

Acknowledges his management of a $26.7 million budget, leadership roles including Vice President of the Mississippi Sheriff's Association and Mississippi Association of Drug Enforcement Officers, and numerous awards including the Law Enforcement Coordinator Lifetime Achievement Award and Distinguished Service Award.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Sheriff Peterson and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
