Honors the life and legacy of Mrs. Bessie Nell Jones, who passed away on February 19, 2024, and expresses deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Recognizes Mrs. Jones as the first African-American nurse hired by Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Mississippi, beginning her career on September 20, 1956, and continuing to work in healthcare until age 75.

Acknowledges her marriage to L.V. (Hambone) Jones on April 27, 1958, and her six children: Desi, Debbie, Jeanette, Jerome, Laschelle, and Jason.

Commemorates her devoted faith as a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and her passions including family, Mississippi State Bulldogs football, quilting, and attending grandchildren's events across the United States.

Directs that copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Jones's family and the Capitol Press Corps.
