Honors retired Mississippi State Trooper Michael Elaine "Mike" Griffin who died on September 4, 2023, from injuries sustained while assisting someone during a vehicle accident in Batesville.

Griffin was born July 13, 1961, in Ripley; served in the United States Marine Corps from 1980 to 1986 as a Rifleman and Remote Sensor Specialist; and worked as a Mississippi State Trooper for 34 years before retiring.

Survived by his wife of 33 years Edna (married June 2, 1990), daughter Olivia, one brother, two half-sisters, and extended family.

Recognized for his service as a faithful member and Elder/Deacon of the Church of Christ, active Lion's Club member, and community pillar known for exceptional kindness and character.

Directs the House to express deepest sympathy to his family and furnish copies of the resolution to Mrs. Edna Griffin and the Capitol Press Corps.
