Scott earned degrees from Rust College, Central Michigan University, and Argosy University, and served over 20 years as a teacher and academic coach before joining the University of Mississippi

Joined Phi Beta Sigma on April 2, 1998, through the Gamma Psi Chapter at Rust College in Holly Springs and served in leadership roles including chapter president, secretary, and collegiate chapter advisor

Elected to the Outstanding Sigmas of the Southern Region alongside Civil Rights activist John Lewis and currently serves as assistant director in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Mississippi

Directs the EMERGE program and career readiness initiatives while advising the National Pan-Hellenic Council at the university
