MS SB2013

Requires law enforcement officers assigned to field or investigative duties to complete at least 2 hours of training on handling, investigating, and reporting crimes committed based on the victim's actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, national origin, or gender.

Mandates officers to contact the Department of Public Safety when such a crime is suspected.

Amends Section 45-6-7 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to establish these minimum educational training standards.

Effective July 1, 2024.
