MS SB2024

Amends Section 47-7-9 of the Mississippi Code to establish a maximum caseload ratio of 50 cases per probation and parole officer, field supervisor, or other community corrections personnel at any given time.

Implements a civil penalty of $7,500 against the Division of Community Corrections if an officer or supervisor exceeds an average caseload of 50-to-one over a three-month period, with half the penalty paid to the affected officer and half to the State General Fund.

Requires division personnel to complete annual training on evidence-based practices, criminal risk factors, and methods to reduce recidivism.

Takes effect July 1, 2024.
