MS SB2025

Amends Mississippi Code Section 89-1-23 to prohibit entities owned by or transferred to nonresident aliens from countries hostile to the United States or known human rights violators from acquiring or holding land in Mississippi.

Maintains existing provisions allowing resident aliens to acquire and hold land with full property rights comparable to state citizens.

Preserves current exceptions permitting nonresident aliens to hold liens on land to secure debt and allowing them to acquire up to 320 acres for industrial development or 5 acres for residential purposes.

Allows nonresident aliens from Syria and Lebanon to inherit property from Mississippi citizens or residents, consistent with existing law.

Effective date is July 1, 2024.
