Failure to pay guardian ad litem fees ordered by court is no longer punishable as contempt of court but shall be enforced as a civil debt through writs of attachment or garnishment.

Amendment applies to guardian ad litem appointments in civil cases under Section 9-5-89 and youth court cases under Section 43-21-121.

Conforming amendments made to Sections 93-11-65, 93-15-107, 93-17-8, and 97-5-42 to reference the new civil debt enforcement mechanism for guardian ad litem fee payments.

Effective date is July 1, 2024.
