Establishes an Artificial Intelligence in Education Task Force to evaluate AI applications in K-12 education and develop policy recommendations for responsible use by students and educators.

Task force consists of 12 members appointed by September 1, 2024: four by the Governor, four by the Lieutenant Governor, and four by the Speaker of the House, with expertise in education, technology, AI, ethics, data privacy, and procurement.

Task force shall meet at least four times from September through December 15, 2024, with all meetings open to the public, to assess AI technology, ethical and privacy implications, and develop policy recommendations on academic integrity, acceptable uses, data privacy, and educator training.

Task force must provide recommendations for incorporating AI into educational standards, protecting student and teacher data privacy, establishing procurement requirements for AI software, and fostering collaboration between K-12 schools, higher education, and industry.

Task force shall submit interim report by November 15, 2024, and final report by December 15, 2024, to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of the House; the Department of Education shall post the final report publicly; task force dissolves January 1, 2025.
