Allows physical therapists with a doctorate in physical therapy or five (5) years of licensed clinical practice experience to perform treatment for conditions within the scope of physical therapy without a prescription or referral from another healthcare provider.

Permits any licensed physical therapist to perform initial evaluations or screenings without a referral to determine if physical therapy is needed.

Requires physical therapists treating patients without a referral to refer the patient to an appropriate healthcare provider if no measurable or functional improvement occurs within thirty (30) calendar days, with disciplinary action by the board for failure to comply.

Prohibits physical therapists from rendering medical diagnoses of diseases when treating without a referral.

Modernizes language regarding the State Board of Physical Therapy's appointments, changing references to the "American Physical Therapy Association-Mississippi" for board member nomination lists.
