MS SB2073

Requires high school graduates beginning in the 2024-2025 school year to correctly answer at least 60 of 100 questions on a test identical to the civics portion of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Test.

Allows local school boards to determine the method and manner of administering the civics test, with students permitted unlimited retakes until achieving a passing score.

Exempts students who passed a similar civics test within the previous three years from retaking the test.

Requires the Mississippi Community College Board to implement the same 60 of 100 civics test requirement for High School Equivalency Diploma applicants beginning January 1, 2024.

Applies accommodations based on students' Individualized Education Programs and takes effect July 1, 2024.
