Allows school districts and public charter schools to offer elective social studies courses on the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), New Testament of the Bible, or both.

Courses must teach biblical content, history, literary style, and influence on contemporary society and culture including literature, art, music, law, government, and public policy.

Students are not required to use a specific Bible translation and may use a different translation than the one selected by the school.

Courses must maintain religious neutrality, follow all applicable federal and state law, and cannot endorse, favor, or promote any particular religion or show hostility toward any religious perspective.

Effective July 1, 2024.
