MS SB2175

Establishes mandatory minimum sentences for receiving stolen property valued at $25,000 or more (not a motor vehicle) of at least 5 years imprisonment, with a maximum of 20 years.

Creates mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years (maximum 20 years) for receiving stolen motor vehicles, regardless of value.

Prohibits reduction or suspension of minimum sentences imposed under the motor vehicle and high-value property provisions, and bars probation or parole eligibility before the minimum term expires.

Maintains existing penalty structures for receiving stolen property under $1,000, between $1,000-$5,000, and between $5,000-$25,000 (all non-motor vehicles).

Effective date: July 1, 2024.
